That's right, we've been painting! Well I've been painting. The Mr. Helped out with the tape where I couldn't reach.
I get very excited to do projects on the weekends and forget that he needs a break sometimes. Last week he was especially busy so I'm very grateful he helped me today. There are times I ask for help just for the sake of doing something together, and times when I just want to avoid a task (I hate washing dishes!). But this was one project I really could not have done with out my favorite fella's help because I am just too short. I hope that sugar cookies were a good "thank you!"
Let me tell you a little about the project. We just moved in to a new place and couldn't be happier about it. The landlady had recently repainted the whole place and done a few rooms in color. Check out the house tour part 1 and you'll see the cute sponged green walls she did in the kitchen. The dining room was left white however, and the curtains we have for it are striped cream so we needed to do something. We decided to use the blue of our table cloth and napkins on the wall with the windows and to mimic the subtle stripes in the curtains.
Last weekend some of our best friends came to visit and helped me put on the base coat of the same blue as the table cloth. When we finished I was nervous that it matched too well! This weekend, now that I had free time and the base was good and dry we used painters tape to add 1 inch stripes at 12 inch intervals across the wall one shade darker than the original blue. I've taken the tape off half the wall and I'm already very excited about the results! I still think the table gets lost against the wall but I think once the curtains are up, hopefully tomorrow, they'll break up the blue and everything will come together nicely.
Next project: a cushion for the bench of our newly elongated table.
