I can't go into much detail (yet!) on some of my projects (spoilers!) but here's what I've got in the works this year:
To kick things off I made my sister a Cookie Monster scarf for her birthday at the end of November. I forgot to snap a picture of it before shipping it off. Maybe she'll be nice enough to send one or wearing it of her wearing it so I can share it with you.
Then my Nana and I made a slew of Christmas wreaths for my mother's church to sell in a holiday fundraiser. Nana's also been keeping busy by helping me bake sugar cookies and wrapping Christmas gifts.
Speaking of cookies: I made my first ever gingerbread people from scratch and they turned out great! The house I attempted with the same dough fell apart, probably because the walls were cut crooked and the icing was a little too thin, but I had a great time decorating the cookies with my niece and nephew.
Dad and Nana take baking Christmas cookies very seriously! |
I made this cute little jellyfish lovey for my daughter. Hopefully she likes it! I've been the most ambitious in my plans for gifts for her first Christmas. I've started on sewing cloth blocks and a doll. I'm also in the process of attempting to refashion an old dress of mine into a romper for her. Working in my favor is the fact that she doesn't know what Christmas is yet so she doesn't know that I'm working on presents for her and won't mind if she gets them a little late. I am, however, having a lot of trouble finding uninterrupted time to sit at my sewing machine with her crawling around! So much to do in the brief time she naps! It's much easier to find time to knit or crochet because I can usually do that while she's nursing.
Of course I also still need to make marshmallows! They've become my holiday tradition. And what would Christmas be without lots of cookies? Another batch of those gingerbread men is a must!
What gifts and treats are you making this year?
